Cultural Grants: 2008-2009 DUE DATE IS APRIL 15, 2008 BY 4:00 P.M.
Introduction
Cultural Opportunity Grants have been established by the Lane County
Cultural Coalition through the Oregon Cultural Trust to support and
protect Oregon culture working to
- Protect and stabilize cultural resources, creating
a solid foundation for the future.
- Expand public awareness of, quality
of, access to and use of culture
in Oregon.
- Ensure
that Oregon cultural resources are strong and dynamic contributors
to Oregon’s community’s quality
of life
Cultural Coalition Vision Statement
The Lane County Cultural Coalition envisions a vibrant cultural life
for the people of Lane County.
Cultural Coalition Mission Statement
The Lane County Cultural Coalition advances its vision through the distribution
of Community Cultural Participation Grant funds from the Oregon Cultural
Trust in accordance with the Lane County Cultural Plan and the direction
of the Oregon Cultural Trust.
Purpose
Cultural Opportunity Grants provide county recognition and support to
significant cultural programs and project, preserving and enhancing
Lane County’s diverse arts, heritage and humanities efforts.
The Lane County Cultural Coalition has identified three priorities for
funding as in the Cultural Plan. Applicants will be expected to address
one of the three priorities with their application. These priorities
include
A) ACCESS Cultural activities in Lane County will be affordable, accessible,
inclusive throughout Lane County.
Project Strategies may include, but are not limited to
- Subsidizing
venue cost
- Subsidizing tickets
- Creating traveling programs
- Creating and maintain internet
resources
- Initiate countywide library system
B) AWARENESS Residents of Lane County will understand and appreciate
how cultural activities enrich their personal lives and make Lane County
a desirable place to live and work.
Project Strategies may include, but are not limited to
- Subsidizing
venue cost
- Subsidizing tickets
- Reaching new audiences
- Strengthening and initiate programs
- Enhancing visibility
and promote cultural activities
C) EDUCATION Lifelong cultural education and activities, in schools
and communities, will encourage creators and innovators who contribute
to the personal and civic development of all residents of Lane County.
Project Strategies may include, but are not limited to
- Creating
programs in schools and other community venues
- Developing participatory
workshops and activities
- Establishing mentorships
- Strengthening and initiate
programs
- Enhancing visibility and promotion of cultural activities
Limitations
The following are not eligible for Cultural Opportunity Grant
funding
- tuition assistance for college,
university, or other formal courses of study;
- projects that
have already been completed;
- grants to offset project deficits;
and
- events whose primary purpose is to raise funds for
a non-cultural cause.

Obtain the Grant Application from one of these two sources:
Applicants supply Applicant Information and complete the narrative section
of the application, which includes the following
- Applicant/Organization
information including address, tax I.D. number (when applicable),
telephone/fax number, e-mail address and district
of residence in Lane County
- Amount requested and date of application
- Priorities
addressed (one or more)
- Description of program or project
- Project timeline
- Project budget (single page with anticipated
income/expenses)
- Project outcomes and evaluation procedure
Not-for-Profit organizations will submit a copy of their IRS letter
of determination.
Grant Review Process
Applications submitted to the Lane County Cultural Coalition will be
reviewed for eligibility, completeness and budget accuracy. Ineligible
applications will be returned to applicants with an explanation.
The Coalition will review applications and score applications using the Guidelines for Critiquing Grants

Final reports: Individuals and organizations receiving Cultural Opportunity
Grants must complete a final evaluation report form provided by the Cultural
Coalition. Reports must be submitted within sixty (60) days of completion
of the grant period. All grantees are subject to audit by the Oregon
Cultural Trust.` |
